Korean Brothers Lee Hyuk and Lee Hyo Thank Fans After Chopin Competition RunCreatrip Team
2 months ago
Brothers pianists Lee Hyuk and Lee Hyo competed at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw but did not advance to the final round. The siblings reached the third round (top 20) and drew strong public and media attention—an uncommon feat for brothers since another Korean duo did so 20 years ago. They expressed gratitude to fans for warm support and said they performed out of love and passion for Chopin. Lee Hyuk, a multilingual musician (Korean, English, Russian, Polish) who also plays violin and excels at chess, impressed with his stage presence and language skills. Younger brother Lee Hyo stood out with modern interpretations and a distinctive appearance, viewing the contest as a space for communication rather than stress. Despite not making the final, the brothers raised their profiles and are expected to have promising careers. The Chopin Competition, often called the "Olympics on the keyboard," runs every five years; the final (including concertos and the designated Polonaise-Fantaisie) concluded Oct 18–20 and the winner was announced Oct 21 (KST).
