The '2025 Bread Day Cheonan' festival opened on Oct. 18 around Cheonan Sports Complex, celebrating bread and local ingredients. Fifty-one neighborhood bakeries showcased unique items—from walnut cookies and rice-crack salt bread to rice hot dogs, green onion baguettes, chestnut pies, and pollack roe croissants—plus new rice-based products. Interactive booths expanded to eight types this year, drawing families to hands-on activities like making baked donuts and international breads such as French beurre/ focaccia (beurre = butter), Chinese mooncakes (월병), and Vietnamese banh mi (반미). About 3,000 participants pre-registered for workshops. Seven regional companies, including Namyang Dairy and Nongshim, ran booths with events like milk giveaways using local milk. A bakery art exhibition featured creations using regional specialties. Evening performances by popular singers and a weekend concert with the city choir and a drone light show highlighted the festival. City officials called the event a collaborative celebration of local baking, agriculture, business, and academia, inviting citizens to enjoy Cheonan’s flavors and values.
