Jeju Island hosts a variety of autumn festivals this weekend featuring traditional events, local specialties and family-friendly activities. The 31st Seogwipo Chilseongri Festival runs through the 19th around Cheonjiyeon Falls, with an open street parade (previously limited to local districts), a Chilseongri open run, youth theater and music performances including Zawoolim and N.Flying, plus food trucks and street art. The 8th Jeju Flatfish (gwang-eo) Festival in Jeju City offers flatfish dishes, hands-on catch experiences and a young chefs’ contest. A two-day Black Pork Festival (black pork is a Jeju specialty) provides tastings, cooking classes and sausage-making. Numerous village festivals celebrate local history and culture: the Gomaroma Horse Culture Festival (reviving the historic Goma ranch) features parades, horseback riding and horse-meat auctions; the Moheunggol “Geudigeulak” festival spotlights Jeju myths and Samsunghyeol; and the Ora Upcycling Festival promotes recycling with upcycled play areas and art. Events emphasize community participation, local food and cultural identity—bring an umbrella and a light jacket as weather may be rainy and temperatures will vary.
