OB Beer, in partnership with environmental NGO Blue Asia, has continued its 'Kas Hope Forest' afforestation project in Erden, Tov Province, Mongolia for 16 years. Since 2010 the program has planted about 47,000 trees (including fruit and windbreak species) to reduce dust storms and desertification worsened by a 2.45°C average temperature rise over the past century. Around 30 volunteers—Blue Asia staff, Mongolian university students and local residents—planted 375 saplings during Mongolia's Tree Planting Day on October 11–12. Beyond ecological restoration, the project supports local climate refugees by creating jobs to cultivate vitamin trees and process harvested fruit into juice, tea, jam and cosmetics for sale. The initiative has been recognized with awards, including a 2014 UNCCD 'Land for Life' prize and a 2023 commendation from a Mongolian environmental refugee community. OB Beer says the campaign is a core environmental effort to help restore ecosystems and promote sustainable livelihoods.
