Ulju County in Ulsan said on the 17th that over 30,000 people have completed its Yeongnam Alps summit certification program. Launched in August 2019, the program awards a commemorative medal to hikers who summit all seven peaks above 1,000 meters and submit mobile app verification. As of this date, 43,170 people have joined the program and 30,000 have finished certification; 92% of this year’s completers came from outside Ulju. The county will distribute a special medal featuring Cheonhwangsan’s spring azaleas and the famous Saja Rock; certified finishers can reserve and collect the medal, and remaining finishers may buy it on the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation’s (KOMSCO) online shop in December. Final app-based certifications and certificate issuance are open until next month’s 30th.
