On the 19th at 5 PM, master pansori singer Kim Boram will perform 'Pansori One-Person Play ANNE' at the Bonomaru Small Theater in Ansan. The work, supported by the Gyeonggi Arts Support program, adapts Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel Anne of Green Gables into a pansori (traditional Korean narrative singing) solo piece. It portrays Anne—an adopted red-haired girl living in the Green Gables house—who uses the power of language to survive discrimination, poverty, and exclusion. The production blends pansori elements like chang (song), aniri (spoken narrative), and ballim (gestures) with musical theater numbers to highlight parallels between Anne’s use of language and pansori’s expressive system. Kim Boram participated in composing the vocal lines; co-directors are Choi Yong-seok and Park Ji-hee, with choreography by Yoo Seon-hoo and music direction/composition by Kim Seung-jin. The team aims to communicate the voice of the marginalized and create direct interaction with the audience. Tickets are available on NOL Ticket; inquiries go through organizer Witteul.
