The 22nd Busan Chinatown Culture Festival runs Oct. 17–19 around Busan Station plaza and Chinatown in Dong-gu. The opening ceremony on the 17th features a lion dance by students from Busan Chinese School, a fan dance by the Busan Municipal Dance Company, ogomu drumming, and the Chinese 'Thousand-Armed Guanyin' dance (천수관음무). Stages at Paru Square and the Chinese school will host Korean-Chinese cultural performances, local arts clubs, and a 'Chaina-neun Trot Show' with singers from Dong-gu. Food stalls will offer Chinatown specialties like jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), mandu (dumplings), and yangkochi (lamb skewers). Large dragon and guardian sculptures, street performances with Peking opera actors, and lion masks add festive attractions. On the 19th, chef Yeo Kyung-rae—known from the show Black and White Chefs—will give a live Chinese cooking demo and tasting at the 'Chaina Cooking Show.' A dumpling-making contest judged by prominent chefs will be held, and the festival concludes with the 4th Dong-gu Residents Singing Contest and a special performance by trot singer Jin Hae-sung.
