Brompton London x MINI Collaboration Drives Sales, Sparks Pop-up Frenzy in KoreaCreatrip Team
2 months ago
British brand Brompton London’s collaboration with global carmaker MINI has proven a major hit in South Korea. The ‘Made in the UK, Made for the City’ collection—featuring the country’s first MINI-collab folding bike and British-style apparel and lifestyle items—sold rapidly, with over half of the MINI-edition bikes gone within about two weeks. Brick-and-mortar stores reported average sales increases of more than double after the launch. Pop-up events drew strong foot traffic: Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam recorded roughly KRW 200 million in two weeks (Sept 29–Oct 12), while the Lotte World Mall pop-up (Oct 3–15) attracted about 20,000 visitors during the Chuseok holiday. Visitors shared many social posts (Instagram and Naver), and collaboration videos surpassed 2 million views; Reddit also showed positive reactions. The buzz is spreading across Asia—Thailand, Malaysia, China, Japan—with potential for reverse exports, positioning Brompton as an “Asian trendsetter” for urban lifestyle. Additional pop-ups and on-site events (including MINI test drives and gacha [capsule toy vending] machine promotions) are planned at Hyundai Department Store Pangyo and Lotte Outlet Uiwang.
