Jecheon City in Chungbuk will hold the 3rd ‘Yakbal’ (herbal boost) Festival at the Jecheon Herbal Market on the 18th. Organized by the market merchants to revitalize the herbal market and promote the local herbal industry, the event will sell Astragalus root (hwanggi) at half price (10,000 won → 5,000 won) with about 140 roots available on a first-come, first-served basis, and offer 300 free servings of hwanggi baeksuk (chicken stew with Astragalus). The festival features local artists and invited singers, instant prize games, and hands-on activities such as making herbal wine and other market events across roughly 60 herbal stalls. The merchants hope visitors will enjoy both health benefits and fun from Jecheon’s renowned herbs.
