Gimsan County will mark “Gimsan Ginseng Day” on the 23rd with an evening ceremony at Gimsan Gymnasium featuring performances by popular singers and hosted by comedian Lee Chang-myeong. The county designated the day earlier this year to raise global awareness of Gimsan ginseng. From the 22nd to the 26th a ginseng and medicinal herb market promotion will run; customers who buy fresh ginseng (susam) and other herbal products or ginseng-processed goods will receive Gimsan Love Gift Certificates (Gimsan-sarang sangpumgwon) as purchase incentives. Certificates range from 5,000 to 20,000 won for purchases between 30,000 and 100,000 won or more. Officials say the events aim to promote the quality of Gimsan ginseng and boost the local economy, and they invite public participation.
