With Chuseok over, Korea’s main travel season is just starting. From mid-October through November about 290 autumn festivals are scheduled nationwide, including famous events like Jinju’s Namgang Yudeung Lantern Festival, Jeongseon’s Mindeungsan Silver Grass Festival, and Gangneung Coffee Festival. Travelers increasingly favor local culture and hands-on experiences such as traditional markets and regional festivals. The government is launching the “Korea Grand Festival” (Sep 29–Oct 9) — a national discount campaign involving some 30,000 businesses — offering wide travel deals: major hotel coupon discounts (up to 50,000 won), camping and transport discounts (tourist trains up to 50% off, express buses up to 30% off, reduced rail passes, and some domestic airfares lowered), and platform-led “autumn travel” packages combining lodging, food and experiences. The push aims to boost domestic demand and attract foreign visitors, making now an ideal time for fall trips across Korea.
