Unity Village's Song of Peace: DMZ Autumn Concert Marks Museum ReopeningCreatrip Team
2 months ago
On Oct. 18, a charity concert will be held in Tongilchon (Unity Village), a settlement inside the civilian control line near the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The Seoul Nanum Clarinet Ensemble will perform a mix of classical pieces and popular songs to celebrate the reopening of the renovated Tongilchon Village Museum. The village, created in the 1970s and home to about 450 residents including veterans and displaced people, still bears wartime scars like shelters and armories. The museum exhibits the village’s founding, Korean War memories and residents’ stories; its renewal includes digitized archives, QR codes, a media wall and AI-based interactive guides. The event is presented as a meaningful expression of hope—transforming a space once defined by military boundaries into a future-oriented cultural site while remembering the wounds of division.
