KAIST neuroscientist Professor Jung Jae-seung argued that as AI becomes better at producing written text, human speaking and storytelling skills will become the key measures of competence. Speaking at a lecture in Myeong-dong on “AI era, storytelling and theatre,” he predicted interviews and assessments may shift to long conversations evaluating attitude and communication. Jung plans to test KAIST students this semester using his own Q&A program instead of written exams. He also suggested AI will soon produce popular creative works, and humans will act as discerning editors who adapt AI-generated stories to their tastes. From a brain-science view, Jung explained how networks like the task mode and default mode network create the feeling of the sublime when engaging with art, and emphasized that reading fiction and theatre can foster empathy and full-brain development more than passive visual media.
