Sokcho Unites Culture and Cuisine: Seorak Cultural Festival and 2025 Sokcho Gourmet Week

Sokcho city will hold an integrated festival from Oct 21–27 combining the 60th Seorak Cultural Festival and the 2025 Sokcho Gourmet Week. The joint event blends tradition and modernity across two main sites—Expo lawn (official ceremonies and main performances) and Seorak Rodeo Street (parades, fringe shows, local experience booths). The Seorak Cultural Festival (theme: “60 years of Seorak, becoming Sokcho’s story”) runs Oct 24–26 with civic programs like a local-market support receipt giveaway (spend ₩30,000 and show your receipt), a citizen talent audition “Sokcho Got Talent,” neighborhood cultural booths, a “Sokcho 60 Olympics,” han-gung (Korean target-stick game) competitions, ancestral rites, drone and fireworks shows, and international performances from EATOF member countries and sister city Yonago. The 2025 Sokcho Gourmet Week (theme: “EAT, CONNECT, RE:VIVE SOKCHO”) features a global food forum with international food editors and critics, the expanded Sokcho International Food Film Festival (SIFFF) with cinema concerts and dining programs, gourmet tours, synergy week, and fine-dining events held near Sokcho Beach and Central Market (Centum Mark). The city aims to use the combined “urban integrated festival” to boost the local economy—linking events to nearby businesses, promoting stay-type tourism, and holding a local-brand collaboration conference with neighboring Hasongs (Goseong) and Yangyang—expecting over 200,000 visitors and wide economic impact.
