Choi Hwi-young, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in South Korea, announced plans to expand K-pop concerts at the Seoul World Cup Stadium (Sangam Stadium) by introducing high-performance mats to protect the grass, similar to those used at Wembley Stadium in the UK. This initiative addresses concert venue shortages in Korea and aims to make the stadium available for more large-scale performances despite turf damage concerns. The Ministry also plans to invest in other improvements such as sound and lighting facilities. There are long-term plans to support the opening of new large concert venues across the Seoul Metropolitan area. Additionally, the Ministry seeks to expand legal measures to curb unauthorized ticket resale (scalping) for popular K-pop concerts.
