In the midst of rising food prices in South Korea, budget-friendly snacks have become increasingly popular. According to the National Data Agency, the price index for 'food and non-alcoholic beverages' rose by 22.9% since September 2020, with snacks and sweets increasing by 27.8%. In response, Kim's Club, a supermarket chain operated by E-Land Retail, has introduced a '990 Won Snack Zone.' Within a month, over 100,000 snack products priced at 990 won (approximately $0.75 USD) have been sold. The chain has expanded its range of fixed-price and bundle snack options, particularly at major locations like the Gangseo store. The store reports that 70% of customers purchasing these snacks buy at least five items, highlighting a demand for both reasonable prices and a variety of choices. Kim's Club plans to continue expanding its selection to maintain customer satisfaction by offering both enjoyment in selection and affordability.
