The Korea Forest Service has launched a trial run of the 'East-West Trail,' a long-distance hiking path suitable for backpacking. The trail currently includes 17 segments covering 244 kilometers out of the planned 849 kilometers, stretching from Taean in Chungnam to Uljin in Gyeongbuk. This new initiative aims to promote a culture of long-distance trekking in Korea, similar to famous international trails. The full opening of all sections is aimed for 2027. Reservations for specific trail segments are available through the 'Forestna-dul e' website. This project hopes to connect communities and promote regional vitality while showcasing Korea's history and culture.
