The Hawaii Juvenile Court once entrusted a 13-year-old Korean boy, identified as a juvenile delinquent, to the guidance of Dr. Syngman Rhee in 1918, showcasing the profound trust the educational community had in him. Syngman Rhee, who was known for his educational contributions in Hawaii, turned the Korean boarding school into 'Korean Central School', significantly increasing its student count and establishing other institutions like the 'Korean Girls' School'. His efforts in providing education were supported by the Korean community and recognized by local press, which dubbed him as 'the great little doctor'. One of his notable assignments was being entrusted legally by the Hawaii Juvenile Court to guide troubled Korean youth, asserting his reputation and trustworthiness in the community.
