Tale of Cheese Festival and Traditional Korean Hanji Demonstration in ImsilCreatrip Team
2 months ago
The Imsil Cheese Festival, held from the 8th to 12th of October 2025 in Imsil Cheese Village and Cheese Theme Park, showcased not only the local cheese industry but also Korea's traditional paper-making craft, hanji. This year, amidst the cheese-themed events, a demonstration by Kim Il-soo, an Intangible Cultural Heritage Haji Master, highlighted the art of hanji-making, including the rare skill of 'one-sheet hanji-making.' Visitors were fascinated by the durable quality of hanji, which outlasts silk by centuries. Historically, travelers collected mountain stream water from this area, believing it preserved the ink's vividness when writing on hanji. The event bridged modern cheese industries and cherished Korean traditions.
