The Warmth of Handwritten Letters: Experiencing a Day as a 'On-gi Postman'Creatrip Team
10 months ago
In South Korea, a non-profit organization 'On-gi' runs an emotional support initiative where volunteers respond to anonymous letters left in 'On-gi mailboxes' installed in 73 locations nationwide. Participants, termed 'On-gi Postmen,' write heartfelt replies aiming to provide comfort. The initiative began in 2017 and has seen over 34,000 letters exchanged. Monthly events now allow new participants to experience being an 'On-gi Postman' for a day. Partakers shared feelings of gratitude, often stemming from receiving such letters themselves in the past, creating a cycle of kindness and emotional support.
