On May 9th, during a golden holiday period in Korea, the hiking trails at the Samaksan Mountain observatory in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, were heavily congested with camping tents instead of hikers. Photos shared online show tents lined up on the narrow path, obstructing the way for those who came to watch the sunrise. The setup caused frustration among visitors, leading to criticism about the lack of management at the site since it is not part of a national park. Although cooking in forest areas is illegal and subject to fines, appropriate solutions for this particular area are limited. Mt. Samak is known for its sunrise views, attracting many visitors.
