American director Jim Jarmusch, known for his unique 'New York Indie' style, remains an outsider artist in the world of Hollywood. Born in Ohio, Jarmusch was influenced by literature and music in his youth and eventually turned to filmmaking after experiencing French New Wave cinema in Paris. He became well-known with his three-part indie film 'Stranger than Paradise' (1983). His storytelling is characterized by poetic simplicity, as seen in works like 'Paterson' (2016) and 'Dead Man' (1995). Jarmusch's latest film, 'Father Mother Sister Brother', received critical acclaim and won the prestigious Golden Lion at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
