Ahead of the APEC Summit in Gyeongju at the end of this month, the nearby city of Pohang is planning several events to attract tourists. From October 27 to November 1, Pohang will host firework and drone shows at Yeongildae Beach, art exhibitions featuring steel, and festivals such as the Marine Food Culture Festival and Chimaek Festival (a festival celebrating fried chicken and beer). Additionally, Pohang will accommodate economic leaders on two cruises used as 'floating hotels' at the Yeongilman port during the APEC event. With hotels nearly fully booked, the city provides shuttle buses for tourists to explore local attractions like Jukdo Market. Improvements are being made, such as remodeling at Pohang Gyeongju Airport.
