In celebration of the 579th anniversary of Hangul Day, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will host a commemorative ceremony on October 9th at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul. Approximately 1,200 attendees, including key public figures and representatives from various sectors, will gather to honor the Korean alphabet. The event will include awards for individuals who have contributed to the promotion of Hangul, such as Mark Allen Peterson, an American professor who taught Korean for over 40 years, and the Korean School in Montreal. Additionally, local government bodies and overseas Korean cultural institutions will hold related events, with a total of around 19,000 participants celebrating the significance of Hangul globally.
