Grandmothers' Poetic Journey: A Humorous and Heartfelt MusicalCreatrip Team
10 months ago
The musical 'Ojige Fun Gashina' brings the true story of elderly women who found joy in learning to read and write Korean to the stage. Based on the essay and documentary 'Chilgok Gashina', it explores these women's literacy school experiences. With over 20 songs inspired by the grandmothers' original poetry, the musical combines humor and warmth. Featuring characters like Young-ran, who dreams of reading fairy tales to her grandchildren, and Chun-shim, who missed out on a singing career due to illiteracy, the show showcases the women's newfound excitement for life. It runs until November 27 at the National Theater of Korea.
