Hello, everyone! Today we would like to introduce 'Konkuk University' located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
Many people may not be familiar with Konkuk University, but in fact, the campus of Konkuk University is not only vast but also the filming place for the Korean dramas 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' and 'Gangnam Beauty'.
Additionally, the Konkuk University Street is also famous in the Seoul area, offering a vibrant nightlife, entertainment, shopping, and other activities. It is perfect for friends who enjoy Korean pop culture.
From the Exit 2 of Konkuk University subway station , walk for 4 minutes, and you will see the Konkuk University's main gate.
Sanghuh gate 상허문
The main entrance does not have any special settings, only a simple setup of Sanghuh gate.
After passing through the main entrance, the left side is the tall and large Konkuk University Medical Center.
Go straight on the main road and you will see the Sanghuh Memorial Library (상허기념도서관). This is probably the largest university library we have ever seen.
The Constant Sanghuh Memorial Library is very grand in appearance. In the center of the plaza in front of the library is a statue of the school founder 유석창 (劉錫昶).
The exterior of the library looks like a museum or concert hall, designed in a very modern and grand style.
Konkuk Language Institute
We are sure that everyone who comes to the Language School must also be curious about where the Language School classroom is located on campus before the class start!
The Konkuk Language Institute is located on a small hill behind the library!
If you are a student coming from the main gate of Konkuk University, go through the main entrance and go straight to Sanghuh Memorial Library and you will see a stone with the name '상허기념도서관'.
Walk to the right side beside the stone, and you will see the stairs going up, walk up the stairs and see the white building ahead.
Than you can see the Language Institute building of Konkuk University! The classrooms and offices of the Language School are located inside this building.
Language School Building Entrance
The interior of this building looks special since we didn't see any stairs at first. To go upstairs, we went up along with this curved path.
Most of the classrooms in the Language School are centered around the building.
Seeing the door on the left side, turn in and you can see the language school's classrooms! Most of the classrooms are located on the 2nd to 4th floors.
There are still stairs set up in the building, right in the center of the building.
Not sure if it's because of safety concerns, but the stairs are currently enclosed and in a prohibited state of use.

The overall space of the classroom is small, and the teaching is also conducted in small classes, with a maximum of 14 people per class.
After coming out of the building of the Language School, we walked down the slope and could see the core of Konkuk University, Lake Ilgam (일감호).
If you ask the students of Konkuk University what the school's representative is, most of them may probably answer: 'There is a very large lake inside the school.'
Lake Ilgam is one of the largest artificial lakes in Seoul, with a massive area of about 15,000 square meters.
It is said that the size of this lake is large enough to accommodate another campus.
After visiting so many campuses, we certified it to be the largest lake in the university in Seoul.
Looking across the lake, you can see the small island in the middle of the lake (Wawudo) and the student dormitory located behind.
Animal Science Building
Known for its Department of Veterinary Medicine, Konkuk University has several departments related to veterinary medicine and animal life sciences.
University Museum (Sangheo Memorial Hall)
This building was once a building of Korea University, a building with a very long history.
In front of the Administration Building, there is a bull statue symbolizing Konkuk University.
The representative animal of Konkuk University is the bull, you can see quite a few bull bronze statues on campus. Symbolizing the honesty, hardworking, and loyal spirit of democracy activists.

New Millennium Hall 새천년관
The New Millennium Hall that is 14 floors high. The exterior looks very new and tall, rarely do college buildings get built this tall. Inside, there are various facilities including a student cafeteria, a large performance hall, a campus souvenir shop, and more.
In addition, the top floor also offers a panoramic view of the entire Lake Ilgam, which is very popular among students.
Cheongsimdae (청심대) in front of the New Millennium Hall is a pavilion that combines both the function of enjoying the view of a lake and relaxation.
During lunchtime or breaktime, you can see many students sitting here.
Near Cheongsimdae, you can see geese coming up from the lake and having a sunbathe by the roadside. They don't seem to be afraid of humans at all.
Student Union
Beside Cheongsimdae, you can see the building of Student Union. Compared to other buildings, the appearance of this building is slightly older.
The first floor and basement are equipped with student cafeterias, offering a wide variety of meals and a pleasant dining environment.
In addition, there is also a school souvenir shop, post office, and Shinhan Bank on the first floor.
Hongyegyo Bridge (홍예교)
Second Student Union
Now we have walked across the Hongyegyo Bridge, keep going straight ahead.
Look on the right side, you can see an uninhabited island located in the center of the lake called Wawudo(와우도).
It is said that there are more than ten herons nesting on top, and even new herons have been bred on top. It is now designated as a natural monument by the government and has become an ecological conservation area.

Overall, most of the buildings at Konkuk University are newly constructed.
The campus is very spacious, flat, and clean. The overall environment is very comfortable. Basically, the campus is mostly flat areas, so it is perfect for taking a walk, and you won't get tired at all.
Because of the lake, the entire campus looks even bigger than other universities. If classes are held in the building across the lake, you may have to walk a little longer before the class, so watch out your commuting time.
