    Document Notarization Guide

    What is document notarization?

It refers to the public recognition of the credibility of documents as they come and go between countries. Notarized documents will be effective as official documents in both countries A and B.

If you wish to use documents issued in country A in country B, you should generally obtain 1) certification from the government agency in country A and 2) certification from the ambassador (consul) of country B in country A.

As the number of Apostille members increases, the above general document notarization process is used only for document exchange with non-apostille members.

The notarization process of documents and the department in charge of notarization may differ by country. Make sure to check the exact process with the information appropriate to your nationality

    What is Apostille?

In order to facilitate the international use of official documents among the members of the Convention, instead of abolishing the consular verification process of foreign missions, the official document issuing country certifies the reliability of the documents. Therefore, in the case of documents certified by the issuing country between the member countries, the official document can be recognized in the other country (the country of use).

Each country has a different government department in charge of issuing apostille. Please contact your local embassy to prepare for the detailed Apostille issuing agency and the issuance process.

    What is a notarized translation?

If the document is in a language that is not recognized by Korea, you will need to translate it and get a notarization for the translation.

For students applying for Korean language schools in Korea, translation into Korean or English is most appropriate and general the two tasks are entrusted together to an administrator who is qualified in translation and notarization. m

Translation notarization is a procedure to prove that the translated content is not different from the original document.

    Subway

Subway Line 2 passes through Seoul National University. However, the distance from the subway station all the way to the front and back gates of the university is so far that it takes about 30 minutes on foot.

    1) Seoul National University: Line 2

Seoul National University Station | Things To Keep In Mind

Line 2 is very useful for commuting to school because it has short intervals and goes through major stations in Seoul. It is also good to use because it passes through the major downtown areas of Seoul such as Gangnam and Hongdae.

If you just hear the name 'Seoul National University Station', you may think that the main entrance of the school is right in front of the station, but it's actually a huge misunderstanding. Transferring to a bus after is essential because it takes around 30 minutes on foot to the main entrance.

You can get off at the main gate or near the language education center by taking bus number 5511, 5513, or the Seoul National University Free Shuttle Bus that circulates inside Seoul National University.

    Train intervals are 5-10 minutes.

Nakseongdae Station | Things To Keep In Mind

If you go to the back gate of Seoul National University or the dormitory, we recommend getting off at Nakseongdae Station. However, Nakseongdae Station is also very far away from the campus. It takes around 30 minutes on foot so it's essential to take a bus.

If you take the Gwanak 02 bus from Nakseongdae Station, you can go to the dormitory directly. It takes around 15 minutes on foot from the dormitory to the language education center. So sometimes a lot of students just take the bus number 5513. The campus size is huge!

The train intervals are 5-10 minutes.

Free Shuttle Bus | Seoul National University -> Seoul National University Administrative Office

It would be a burden to pay the bus fare every time you go to the campus to take your classes. Transportation fees can add up quickly!

Fortunately, there are free shuttle buses available for students to take.

However, the administrative office where the bus drops you off is located more than 15 minutes away from both the language education institute and the dormitory. On the bright side, you can take advantage of the free fare!

There is a Seoul National University shuttle bus sign in front of the cafe.
STEP. 2You can get on the bus right away.
The bus runs from 07:00-18:00 and the interval is 5-15 minutes.
STEP. 3Get off at Seoul National University administrative office.

    University District and Neighborhood Information

    1. University District Information

The downtown area at Seoul National University is called 'Sharosu-gil'. It's a combination of Seoul National University's nickname 'Sha-dae' and 'Garosugil'.

There are many restaurants, bars, cafes, and other activities around Sharosu-gil for you to enjoy your college life. It's very trendy because there are many shops run by young owners.

However, this street is located near Seoul National University Station Exit 1, so it is quite far from the campus.
