Curriculum Details

Level 1

• Can utilize basic Korean pronunciation and grammar.
• Through activities such as self-introduction, shopping, giving directions, and ordering food, you can acquire basic Korean communication skills.

Level 2

• Can speak Korean in full sentences using various conjunctions.
• Can gain enhanced Korean conversational abilities through activities like making requests while shopping, planning and inviting to parties, and introducing various experiences.

Level 3

• Can obtain more advanced Korean conversational skills through various expressions.
• Can achieve a more fluent Korean conversational ability through activities related to university life, career planning, leisure activities, using public institutions, and providing counseling.

Level 4

• Can use Korean expressions used in formal and professional contexts.
• Can speak and understand Korean on more social and profound topics such as generational conflicts, proper economic perspectives, and job interviews.

Level 5

• Can utilize Korean expressions to imagine hypothetical situations or persuade others.
• Can freely discuss current issues such as traditions, modern society, various social phenomena, and environmental problems in Korean.

Level 6

• Can become more fluent in using advanced vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in Korean.
• Can engage in discussions about Korean history, culture, politics, and social issues with ease.

Tuition

* (Example) When applying to 2 semesters of morning classes: Admission fee ₩64,800 + tuition ₩1,870,000*2 = ₩3,804,800
*The admission fee is the amount you pay when you apply and cannot be refunded.
*The tuition can be paid in full after you have passed the admission process.
*Textbook fees are not included.

Refund Policy

*The admission fee is non-refundable.
*If you wish to get a refund, you must submit a refund application form and a copy of your bank (or the Internet banking image file of your account) to the administrative office of Sungkyunkwan Language Institute.
*Applications will be accepted based on the time when both the refund application form and a copy of the bank (or the Internet banking image file of the account) are submitted.
*If you receive a refund through overseas remittance, it may be refunded excluding bank transfer fees.
*Refund takes about 10 business days for domestic accounts and 4 to 6 weeks for overseas accounts.

Sungkyunkwan University is a leading South Korean university that boasts 624 years of academic history. In addition to being a pioneer in education for Korean students, Sungkyukwan offers courses for foreigners that are hoping to learn Korean. Their courses are conducted in small groups so that students can both learn Korean in personally tailored classes and be immersed in cultural experiences.

Subway Information

Sungkyunkwan University can be reached by Subway Line 3 and 4. You can get off at the subway station and walk, but you can also use the shuttle bus for a reasonable fare to get to the university. 

1) Hyehwa Station: Line 4

Hyehwa Station | Things to Keep In Mind

Line 4 can get especially crowded in the morning. Please take that into consideration when planning your trip. 

After coming out of Hyehwa Station Exit 4 the university entrance is about a 20 minute walk, or a short shuttle bus ride from Exit 1. 

You can also take Jongno 08 and Jongno 07 busses to get to the university. 

Train intervals are 5-10 minutes.

2) Anguk Station: Line 3

Anguk Station | Things to Keep In Mind

This station is located downtown and near popular historical and cultural spots such as Changdeokgung Palace, Insa-dong, Bukchon Hanok Village, Unhyeongung Palace, and Samcheong-dong. It is a major are that attracts many tourists. 

When you come out of Anguk Station Exit 2, you can use village bus Jongno 02 to get to the university.

Step. 3	You can head to the inside of the university, so you just need to get off the bus accordingly to your destination.

Step. 1	After heading out of Exit 2 of Anguk Station, go straight towards the bus stop.
Step. 2	Take the Jongno 02 bus at the bus stop in front of Exit 2 of Anguk Station.
Step. 3	Get off at Sungkyunkwan University Back Gate, Waryong Park stop. It will be a total of 8 stops.  (It takes around 17 minutes)

University District and Neighborhood Information

Sungkyunkwan University's University district is the area that goes from the main gate of Sungkyunkwan University to the area around Hyehwa Station. It can take a while to get there, so we suggest taking a bus there. However, as you can see from the photos above, in the autumn, the leaves of the ginkgo trees are very beautiful and many people enjoy coming here to enjoy the trees and taking a walk.

Also, there are many restaurants and cafes, as well as activities nearby that you can enjoy. Throughout the course of your studies, you should take the time to explore the nearby neighborhood and everything it has to offer! 

In particular, near Hyehwa Station there are many plays and musicals that you can go watch. It is a great way to immerse yourself in Korean language and culture!

1) Marronnier Park

Marronnier Park is a park that was built after Seoul National University moved their campus to Gwanak in 1975. 

In the park you can find small theaters such as Arko Art Museum, Arko Arts Theater, Artist's House, Outdoor Stage, Children's Playground and many other the small theaters. 

If you are visiting, we recommend 'Hakrim Coffee Shop' a cafe frequented by artists and students who led the democratization movement in 1956 and 'Jin Achun' a Chinese restaurant with 100 years of history. 

2) Daehakro Jayu Theater

We would not be able to write about Hyehwa without talking about it's rich culture with plays and performances! Therefore, we want to introuduce Daehakro Jayu Theater. 

Daehakro Jayu Theather is a musical theater that opened in Daehakro as a way to further develop musicals and preforming arts in Korea. 

The theater established itself as a cultural space where the preforming arts could thrive and is the home to many creative musicals in Korea such as Dalgona, Jekyll and Hyde, and Dalgona. 

3) CGV 대학로

CGV Daehakro branch is where college students come to watch movies if they have some extra time to spare. 

Howver, unlike other CGVs, the one at Daehakro holds an event where you can listen to actors and talk with actors every month! This area is a very popular area for aspiring actors. Some actors that you may that once were aspiring actors from this area are Kim Seon-Ho, Lee Seon-Kyun, Jo Jeong-Seok, Jeon Mi-do, Song Kang-ho and Um Ki-jun.
