Hangang Parks To Restrict Entry To Its Major Areas

The above photo taken on September 5 shows citizens enjoying the outdoors while social distancing at a Hangang Park. However, it seems that this won't be an option for Seoul residents for a while.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government stated that entries to major Hangang parks that normally see dense crowds will be prohibited starting September 8 as a measure to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

The measure plans on executing the following:

  1. Entry to dense areas of major Hangang parks prohibited
  2. Reduced hours of operations for convenience stores and parking lots
  3. Strengthend night patrols

Yeouido, Ttukseom, Banpo Hangang parks have begun restrictions at 2 pm today.

Restricted areas include Event Square and Seasons Square at Yeouido Hangang Park, squares around Inchworm Tunnel at Ttukseom Hangang Park, and picnic areas 1 and 2 at Banpo Hangang Park.

28 convenience stores and 7 cafes at Hangang parks will close their doors at 9 pm every day. 43 parking lots at 11 Hangang parks will also close at 9 pm.

The strengthened nighttime patrols will advise citizens to avoid drinking and eating after 9 pm at the parks. Furthermore, they will encourage 2m of social distancing and wearing masks.

The city strongly recommends its citizens to spend the weekend with families at home. This measure will continue for as long as the city's 'Halt Week' continues.
