“You can now taste the original ‘Monster Ice Cream’ in Korea which you had to wait in line for hours in Taiwan.” Taiwan’s famous ‘Roji Café Monster Ice Cream’ will land in Seoul, South Korea next month.

According to the distribution industry on the 13th, Ami F&B obtained domestic distribution rights of Roji Café and will open the first store on June 6 at the Parnas Mall located in Coex, Gangnam.

Roji Café is an ice cream and dessert brand that started in Taiwan’s Taichung in 2014. Roji (路地) means a simple and friendly alleyway, representing the lifestyle which the brand aims for. It eventually became a must-visit place for tourists, especially among those who are social media-heavy.

The Monster Ice Cream, the signature menu of Roji Café, has been loved by consumers for its mix-and-match availability of adding various toppings such as milk, matcha, cocoa, and yogurt on a basic ice cream, resembling a playful monster.

Even other Korean restaurants brought out a similar menu. Moreover, Roji Café plans to launch diverse dessert menus in Korea including matcha sweet red bean porridge and monster waffles.

Roji Café entered the global market with stores around the world including Taiwans’ Taichung and Taipei as well as Australia (Sydney and Bernau), China (Shanghai), and the United States (Seattle and California), and will now open its first store in Seoul.

Monster ice cream is expected to gain great popularity especially since consumers can have vicarious pleasure when they are unable to travel overseas due to the pandemic.

Jang Soo-woong, the CEO of Ami F&B, confidently said, “We will introduce a dessert café that adds the Korean trend to the warm and smiling sentiment of Taiwanese Roji Café through localization of the original."
