On April 28, IU surprised her fans posting on her Twitter account that she will be releasing a new digital single on May 6. This new digital single will be titled Eight and will feature Suga from BTS. Suga with IU also took part in producing Eight. IU's new song will be different from her previous song. Her agency stated, "The two exchanged opinions based on their bond of sympathy as peer musicians and captured their own synergy in the music." IU has released her first teaser of Eight on YouTube.
