A store in Daejeon has come up with new strategy during the Coronavirus crisis in Korea. If you take three masks (KF80 or KF 94) to the store you can trade them for a bowl of haejangguk (Korean soup). Also if you order a bowl you get a free mask.
Because of the epidemic people are afraid to go out to eat. That's why these stores came up with novel ideas to attract people to come. This strategy is to not only attract customers but also help those who are in need.
But until now, only one person used a mask to purchase a bowl.
Although it is quite creative, not many people are willing to change their masks which are hard to get even for themselves.
There are also reports that a hairdresser in Busan will offer his service for five masks. Other stores offer 10% discount for a masks, a movie ticket, or an egg. Ideas featuring masks are really novel and endless.
However, regardless of how novel they are, it doesn't seem very effective.
