Our Visit
Today, we visited Sejong Ganjang Gejang, a soy sauce marinated crab specialty restaurant located in Myeongdong. As soon as we entered, I noticed the crowded customers and the reviews left by previous visitors. Not only that, there were also many autographs of famous Japanese people. I could tell that this restaurant is receiving a lot of love from foreigners, especially Japanese.
When you place an order, the owner will prepare the food right in front of you. I didn't feel like waiting for a long time because I could see the owner's preparation process in front of my eyes. Can't you feel the aura of a professional?
The owner is preparing the soy sauce shrimp that we ordered. Thanks to her kind response, it felt so nice.
Before the food comes out, the side dishes are set. A whopping 12 side dishes are served, and I heard that all the side dishes are made from scratch. The side dishes were so plentiful and delicious that I could have a meal with just them.

The main ingredient of Ganjang Gejang, the crab, has a lot of roe and is really big in size. Compared to other soy sauce crab restaurants, the broth here is a bit watery, so it might not be suitable for those who dislike salty flavors. By the way, the editor doesn't like heavy scents so it was perfect.
When the soy sauce crab comes out, sprinkle additional soy sauce sauce on top. When you spread the crab meat and add a little more soy sauce, it tastes really delicious with rice.
In this place, the owner personally prepares the soy sauce marinated crab for you! Ganjang gejang is difficult to prepare, but you just have to sit and wait while each one is prepared for you.
Next, soy sauce shrimp came out. This dish is made with secret special soy sauce, creating a unique flavor! The texture is chewy and the flavor is nutty and attractive.
Even the soy sauce shrimp was prepared by the owner. Preparing the shrimp is also difficult, but it's so convenient since the owner does it for you.
Place the prepared soy sauce marinated crab and shrimp on a plate. Enjoy the prepared food! Above all, the soy sauce is delicious, and when you eat it with rice, the rice goes in a lot on its own.
When you squeeze the body of a crab with gloves on, the meat and eggs come out like this. You can eat it by spreading it on rice or mixing it with soy sauce and eating it with rice.
The shell is another delicacy when you put rice inside and mix it with the contents. The crab's egg and soy sauce are mixed together, creating an addictive taste.
Shrimp also go well with rice like this. Shrimp meat looks really fresh and shiny!
This is a Abalone Sauce(Jeonbokjang). On top of raw abalone, there's a soy sauce and it has a crunchy texture that is really good. For those who love raw abalone, this is a must-try menu.
We highly recommend the Jeon (pancake). It complements the ganjang gejang really well, and it has a crispy texture! The shrimp inside gives it a delightful and rich flavor.
There are four types of juk (porridge) available: Abalone, shrimp, oyster, and vegetable. These are comforting options that would be perfect for a breakfast meal. Depending on your preference, you can choose the type of porridge you'd like to try!
Japchae is indeed one of the side dishes that Koreans really love. It's a dish made by stir-frying ingredients like mushrooms and vegetables and then mixing them with boiled sweet potato glass noodles. It complements well with all kinds of other dishes.
