On June 27, five endangered Korean (Siberian) tigers were born naturally at the zoo in Everland theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. There are three female and two male cubs and Everland recently released photos of them as they turned 50 days old.

With only about 1,000 tigers left in the world, the Korean tiger has been designated as an endangered species by the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
They are an Appendix I species, meaning they are threatened with extinction. Usually, only two to three cubs are born at a time, so it is very rare for five to be born at once.

The baby tigers were born at about 1 kg and grew to 5-6 kg in 40 days. They recently started being able to eat ground meat.
They were born to mother Gun-gon and father Tae-ho, both born in 2016. Their first cubs, Tae-beom and Mu-gung, are already stars on social media.
Everland is considering revealing the baby tigers to the public in early October, when they turn around 100 days old. Their growth process will be shown through social media.
