We made our way to Yeonnamdong as soon as we heard the news. Here is our review of our visit to the popular jelly candy shop, Bären-Treff!
Here's the new hot spot in Yeonnam-dong, Bären-Treff! Apparently, it is the German gummy bear brand Bären-Treff's first store in Korea.
The store is easy to find with its unique and conspicuous yellow interior!
The sign in front of the store is very cute.
The sign says "Bären-Treff, a premium gummy candy brand from Germany" and "Delicious fruit jelly made from natural fruit juice and fruit slices".
In fact, many of their candies are made from natural ingredients and don't contain any gluten or lactose, and they even have vegan-certified jelly!
This is from the inside of the Bären-Treff store! It is all take-out, and there are no seats to sit down and eat.
Both the candy and the cute Gummy Bear figures stand out in this picture!
I visited just some weeks before Christmas and was met with lovely Christmas decorations!

It may look like beer and tomato pasta... but look again!
This is actually a display of jelly candies! The beer glass is filled with yellow and white candy pieces, and the plate with a long pasta-like type of candy.
I was completely fooled at first, and it took me a while to realize that they were not real!
The picture above shows their Halloween decorations. As you can see, Bären-Treff's interior changes with the seasons!
Seeing how the store interior has changed since last time will add to the excitement of visiting.
HOW TO BUY YOUR JELLIES
After having enjoyed a browse around the store, it was not time to buy some jelly candies.
There are 3 ways that you can purchase candy at Bären-Treff. We will explain all about it below.
Pro Tip: If you ask the staff, they will let you taste the jellies to help you make up your mind!
1. Pick 'n' Mix (₩3,500/100g)
The first way of buying is by picking and mixing yourself!
Choose a bag that can fit either 100g or 200g and add as meny jelly candies as you like; you pay according to the weight.
Sometimes we just want a small amount of candy, but ready-made jelly bags are too big, so this is a great option to get just the right amount!
I picked a bag that can fit 200g of jelly candy.
I like jelly candies, and rather than just one flavor, I want to have many varieties to choose between, so picking and mixing was a great option for me. I ended up trying out a number of different flavors.
I'll introduce my favorites below!
First we have the Gummy Christmas Mix! It is only available during Christmas season.
The Christmas Mix comes in various shapes like Christmas trees and Santas, with flavors such as pineapple, apple, raspberry and blackcurrant!
Next, have a look at this shape! You guessed right, this gummy candy is shaped like an iceberg.
The taste was as unique as its colors. The white upper part had a soft milky taste, and the lower blue part had a refreshing lemon taste.
This gummy candy captured my heart as soon as I saw it! The heart shaped candy tastes like sour peach.
The chubby heart shape is just so cute! Its sour sugar coating and sweet peach filling make a great combination, and I highly recommend it if you like sour candies.
Have a look at these cute mushroom-shaped gummy candies! The strawberry-flavored marshmallow is soft and has just the right amount of sweetness, making it highly addictive.
This is one of the products that uses natural flavors, and it is both gluten-free and lacto-free.
This sour french fries-shaped candy was also amazing!
The long strips taste refreshingly of lemon and grapefruit. But beware, this is a mouth-puckering sweet with an abundance of sour sugar on them!
I kept picking one jelly after another, and my bag was full in no time!
After you choose as much candy as you like, just put your bag on the scale.
The price is ₩3,500 per 100g. My bag came in at just over 100g, giving me a price tag of about ₩3,600.
2. Pre-Filled Bags (₩2,000/bag)
Instead of picking and mixing yourself, you can choose buy pre-filled bags.
The jelly bags weigh about 50g (about 10 to 12 pieces) and are sold for ₩2,000 each.
This is a good alternative if you want to try different flavors but don't have the patience to mix yourself.
Most bags offer a great mix of delicious flavors such as cola and honey.
And there is another perk to buying your candy this way!
If you buy 4 pre-filled bags of candy, you get the option of adding another ₩1,000 and get a gorgeous gummy bear bag!
I choose 4 jelly bags for ₩8,000, added ₩1,000, and received my gummy bear bag.
This little bag looks like a cute fashion item and put a smile on my face!
3. Big Bag (₩11,000-15,000/bag)
The third option you have at Bären-Treff is to purchase a big bag!
Those who want a lot of their favorite kind of jelly, rather than mixing different flavors, should go for this option.
The price tag differs a bit depending of the candy, but most bags cost between ₩11,000 to ₩15,000.
I was about to buy a bag of these french fried-shaped jelly candies but ended up putting it down.
I came to regret that decision after I ran out of sweet and addictive Bären-Treff sweets, and I will definitely buy one of these next time I visit the store.

After my visit to the Bären-Treff's store, I can see why this place has been trending on Korean social media.
The beautiful interior is pleasing to the eye, and I really liked the fact that I could taste the candy before deciding on buying or not.
In addition, it's not easy to find specialty stores in Korea that sell quality gummy candy, but here you get a great variety at a reasonable price!
