List Of Daegu-born Korean Franchise Brands

Are you familiar with any Korean franchise brands? Chicken brands? Tteokbokki brands?

Interestingly, Daegu is the origin of many Korean franchise brands. Today, I will tell you some of the popular franchise brands among Korean locals and how they got famous across the country.

Let's take a look!


Korean Fried Chicken

Kyochon Chicken Main Branch

Readers might have already tried Kyochon Chicken! Kyochon Chicken is one of the most famous chicken franchise brands in Korea, but did you know that the brand was created in Gumi which is near Daegu?

You can find the modern-looking building in Daegu, which is the main branch of Kyochon Chicken. Have you ever seen a chicken restaurant this classy and modernized?

Hosigi Dumari Chicken

Hosigi Dumari Chicken is also a popular franchise chicken brand that started the business in Daegu.

Mexican Chicken

Mexican Chicken is considered an original fried chicken brand since it started its business in 1986.

Due to the age and originality of the brand, a lot of Koreans enjoy the fried chicken with sauce.

Cheogajip Seasoned Chicken

Cheogajib Seasoned Chicken is my favourite Korean chicken brand. This brand first opened its business in Daegu as well!

If you ever get a chance to try Korean fried chicken in Korea, I recommend trying Cheogajib Seasoned Chicken's 'Supreme seasoned chicken'.

Tteokbokki

Tteokbokki is a popular and beloved street food among Korean. The popularity of tteokbokki is all over the world these days, and it is pretty easy to find Korean restaurants selling tteokbokki.

Sinjeon Tteokbokki

  • Hours: 10:00-22:30
  • Tteokbokki ₩3,000
  • Deep-Fried Fishcake: ₩1,000
  • Blood Sausage: ₩3,500

Sinjeon Tteokbokki is a well-known tteokbokki franchise brand across the country. Surprisingly, Sinjeon Tteokbokki started its business in Daegu, and spread the business to other regions successfully.

Since I visited Daegu, my friend and I decided to visit the main branch of Sinjeon Tteokbokki.

We have ordered cheese tteokbokki, fried fish cake and blood sausages.

The combination of three dishes will make your tummy full for two people indeed.

I personally love the cheese on tteokbokki! If you are a big fan of cheese, you must add cheese on top of your tteokbokki.

Don't forget to dip your deep-fried fish cake in the tteokbokki sauce!

Sinjeon Museum

As I have mentioned earlier, Sinjeon Tteokbokki opened its business in Daegu; maybe because of that reason, Sinjeon opened a 'Sinjeon Museum'.

From this museum, you can try Sinjeon Tteokbokki's food, decorate an instant tteokbokki cup and get a package of instant tteokbokki that you can eat later at home!

Baked Goods

Geundaegolmok Danpatbbang Main Branch

Geundaegolmok Danpatbbang is considered one of the three best bakeries in the city, and many Koreans who are in love with baked goods visit Daegu for this!

The generous amount of cream will definitely satisfy your taste. It's a must-try!



Fusion Cuisine

MIES CONTAINER

MIES CONTAINER is a Korean-Italian fusion cuisine restaurant, started its journey from Daegu. The modern interior and high ceiling were very eye-catching!

I have ordered 'Hi-Five' Pan Cheese Pizza, which is the signature menu from MIES CONTAINER. This pan pizza has four different flavours that you will have to scoop out from the pan!

The biggest perk of this 'Hi-Five' Pan Cheese Pizza is that you can try all four flavours including the sweet potato mousse, gorgonzola cheese, bacon and marinated beef.

The four flavour pan pizza was more interesting and tasty than I expected!

My favourite was the sweet potato mousse part. If you are not familiar with pizza with sweet potato, this the perfect chance to try.
