Do you like donuts? Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme compete for control of the donut market in Korea. Krispy Kreme opened its first Korean franchise in 2004 and has catapulted in popularity every since. Even their most basic donut - the original glazed donut - is mouthwateringly good!

Combining the sweetness of the glazed donut with the bitter taste of a hot americano is absolutely delectable. Taking a bite of the sugary glaze after a sip of coffee exponentially increases the sweetness.
However! We're not here to rant and rave about how well Krispy Kreme handles the basic glazed donut. We're here to talk about the unique and exciting donuts they've been working on behind the scenes.

When I went in to try the new menu items, there was a line already. You can see the popularity of Krispy Kreme here in Korea! The secret to their consistent popularity is the novelty and excitement of the new donuts that they release each month.

Today, I went to Krispy Kreme to sample their new menu items focused around putting ice cream inside the donut. They even made a hastag #icecreaminsider. "Insider" is a Konglish word meaning someone who is in the inner circle, or someone who is "in the know."
The #icecreaminsider menu is built by taking Krispy Kreme's most popular donuts, splitting it in half, and filling it with ice cream. Then, they drizzle some chocolate and sprinkles on it. Delicious.
With ingredients like that, there's no way that it can't be good!
So let's dive in to the 4 donuts and my honest opinion about them.
#Icecreaminsider Lotus Biscoff
Price : ₩4,300
Calories : 578kcal
Toppings: Lotus Biscoff spread, Lotus Biscoff crumble
Rating : ★★★★★
This donut combines the creamy texture of ice cream with the crunch of Biscoff cookies.
Among the four new donuts on the menu, this one is the best because of its combination of flavors and textures. The ice cream is sweet and creamy while the cookies are sweet, salty, and crunchy. Furthermore, the smell alone is appetizing and aromatic.
I can't forget to mention the Biscoff jam that is also included among all the other toppings. Biscoff cookies are very popular and delicious, so it only makes sense to include as many derivatives as possible here.
The ice cream is made with milk from dairy farms in Korea and the scent was very milky and natural.

Tip : The donuts come with a large amount of ice cream. So you can enjoy the first half of the ice cream with a spoon, then eat the rest along with the donut. Otherwise, you might get ice cream everywhere and you don't want to waste any!
#Icecreaminsider Powder Strawberry Filled
Price : ₩4,000
Calories : 458kcal
Toppings: Strawberry filling, Powdered sugar
Rating: ★★★★☆

This one is a great combination of ice cream with sweet and sour strawberry jam. It's like a distant cousin of strawberry milk, which I'm a big fan of.
Everyone in the world has tried strawberry jam at one point in their life. The taste is familiar and reliably good, guaranteeing that this donut would be a hit.
Strawberry filled donuts are always a popular donut option, so adding ice cream to it was a decision that serves only to improve the tried-and-true donut.
#Icecreaminsider New York Cheesecake
Price: ₩4,300
Calories: 536kcal
Toppings: Cream cheese topping, Graham cracker cookie
Rating: ★★★☆☆

The third donut on the list is another donut that combines a popular dessert option with the donut. Those among us who think that the graham cracker crust is the best part of the cheesecake can rejoice. This donut utilizes large graham cracker chunks as a whopper of a topping.
There is also a large amount of solidified cream cheese topping to hold the graham crackers in place. You can also detect more cream cheese filling inside in each bite.
This particular donut is more geared toward those who like the sour taste of the cream cheese topping. it's less of a one-size-fits-all flavor that everyone can enjoy.
#Icecreaminsider Ligo Peanut Butter
Price: ₩4,500
Calorie: 587kcal
Toppings: Ligo peanut butter, Soboro bread crumble
Rating: ★★★☆☆

The last donut added to the menu is one topped with peanut butter. The salty peanut butter meshes well with the silky and sweet flavor of the ice cream. It was absolutely delectable.
Similar to the cream cheese donut, peanut butter is not a flavor that is universally liked, so this one is more of a niche donut for the peanut butter fan boys and girls out there.
This is my honest review of the new #icecream insider donuts brought to us by Krispy Kreme. Personally, I'd never experienced the intense combination of donuts and ice cream before, so this was a great experience for me overall.
If you ever get the chance to try them out for yourself, I high recommend that you seize the moment and treat yourself. As tempting as it may be, don't overdo it too much. They are very calorie dense and you can quickly find that you look like a donut yourself after getting addicted to these incredible flavors.
