Korean food is very big on fish and meat. Marinated meats, broth-based soups, etc. A quick look at Korean cuisine will give you the impression that vegetarian options are few and far betweeen.
But vegetarian travelors do not fret! Increasingly, there are more people here who are pursuing vegetarianism for health, environmental, or religious purposes. Here is an introduction to eight amazing vegetarian restaurants in Seoul that have popped up in response.
Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant | 1. Again Refresh (어게인 리프레쉬)

Again Refresh has many branches around Seoul. Although not 100% vegetarian as they do have some meat dishes, it's famous for supplying fresh vegetables and fruits.
What's great about Again Refresh is that vegetarians and non-vegetarians can eat together at the same time, but when you order, you should ask to confirm that there is no meat in the dish.
In addition to the branch office in Hongdae, there are also branches near the Jonggak, Gangnam, Garosugil and Dongdaemun. You can choose the most convenient branch.

Soigné was a Michelin starred restaurant for two years (2017-2018). You can almost tell by the classy interior.
SOIGNÉ's refined dishes tell a story.
This is a very famous high-class restaurant in Seoul. The chefs carefully select each ingredient and prepare each dish with excruciating care. The restaurant is very popular among Korean vegetarians.
A common problem among vegetarians is that sometimes the meals are not filling enough. SOIGNÉ, however, takes care that the dishes at each step of the meal are just as filling as any other dish. This is the care and attention of the chefs of SOIGNÉ.

Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:3. PLANT(플랜트)

This little vegetarian eatery can be found in Itaewon, a neighborhood full of exotic flavors. There are two Plant branches, and the address now shows up as PLANT CAFE & KITCHEN.
You can't NOT mention vegetarian burgers when talking about PLANT. Made from soybeans, it looks so appealing and tastes phenomenal. Veggie burgers are difficult to get right, but Plant hits the mark.
The food here even photographs well.

Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:4. Five World Scents(오세계향)

It's unfortunate that vegetarians can't seem to try any real Korean dishes when they're in Korea as most of them are meat or broth based. Good vegetarian Korean food is definitely hard to come by.
Located next to the lively Insadong Renren Square, Five Worlds Scent is a popular Seoul vegetarian restaurant that offers food so delicious and rich that you'll forget that it's vegetarian.

Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:5. SUKARA(수카라)

This vegetarian restaurant is actually a coffee shop located in Hongdae.
The ingredients of the meals served at SUKARA are all produce bought directly from local farmers from rural parts of Korea. Sometimes they have a small farmer's market inside to invite those who share the same philosophy of fresh, healthy vegetarian living.
Every dish Sukara serves is vegetarian and delicious. Every dish is beautifully designed to bring out the natural flavors and freshness of the ingredients.
Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:6. Sobang Mill Company (소녀방앗간 마로니에점)
- Location:1 Dongsung 4na-gil, Ihwa-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul
- Hours:11:00 - 21:00(15:00 - 17:00 Lunch break on weekdays)
Sobang Mill Company is in the Sungkyunkwan Univ. area (Hyehwa Station), and has a mission to promote health and wellness.
Although not all meals are vegetarian, the signature “mountain greens rice (산나물밥)” dish is meat-free. You can also ask the server for a separate meat menu.
Here they generally serve Korean-style dishes. All dishes are low sodium and without artificial seasonings.
They offer healthy, flavorful dishes for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
The Mountain Greens Rice dish is vegetarian, and uses fresh traditional Korean herbs.
These uniquely Korean dishes are a must-try if you are ever in the Hyewha neighborhood.
Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:7. The Bread Blue(더브레드블루)

This café in Shinchon sells a wide variety of breads. Everything is made only with plant-based ingredients, without any cream, eggs, butter, or any other animal products.
However, I still recommend that you ask the staff about the ingredients when trying bread in Korea.

Seoul Vegetarian Restaurant:8. Cook and Book(쿠앤북)
- Location:61 Seongji 3-gil, Hapjeong-dong

This vegetarian café is owned by the author of "Sweet Natural Baking (달콤한자연식베이킹)".
The menu is updated every week and only a limited amount is sold each day. Everything is vegetarian and very delicious.
Like Bread Blue, Cook and Book's desserts are all vegan. The cake offerings vary from season to season.

Renewed version of this vegan restaurant launched mid-December 2019. They serve interesting dynamics of menu items including Kung Pao tofu and linguine pasta. Vegan desserts are also available. 🍰
