On August 20th, a new Netflix series Goedam aired its first episode. The series depicts 8 different stories of spooky stories, each lasting around 8 to 15 minutes.
The Korean title Doshi Goedam (도시괴담) refers to myths and stories of supernatural things, ghosts, mysteries and such. There are a long list of doshi goedams floating around the web. That's how prominent these chilling myths are in Korean culture, taking place in settings from military bases and highways to shopping malls and telephone calls.
The episodes tell a variety of stories including online streaming broadcaster who deliberately does strange scenes for popularity, elevator where bones were found while a detective there sees frightening things, a taxi driver transporting a spooky passenger late at night and more.
K-pop stars and actors including SEOLA from Cosmic Girls, Lee Hyun-joo (a former member of APRIL) and Song Chae Yoon play parts in the series, raising more anticipation!
Stories that revolve around ghosts and characters in modern day society, campus, household, and religion truly portray how Koreans picture doshi goedams.
What do you guys think? Do you think you'll be able to sit through the episodes without getting scared? I know I'll definitely need company if I'm going to watch the series. Be sure to share your reviews and thoughts below!
