If you are waiting for your bus to get to work in the summer heat, it is a pain you cannot avoid. Korea has introduced a new type of bus terminal.
It offers air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, smartphone chargers. It has gotten positive reactions from locals and will be spread throughout Seoul by 2021.
Seongdong-gu has introduced a new type of bus terminal to get lots of positive attention from local citizens.
It adopted cutting-edge technologies, such as ICT, air purification and renewable energy.
Because of COVID-19, you have to measure your temperature to enter the terminal. If your temperature is within the normal range, the door will open.
Then, you'll have to leave your record by tagging your QR code. Try to maintain social distancing with in the booth.
Once you enter the place, you'll notice many differences from normal bus stations. For example, there is an ultra-violet ray air purifier you'll only find in medical facilities.
While you wait for your bus, you can enjoy the free Wi-Fi or charge your phones. The location of the buses is shown on the monitor, which provides voice service for the blind as well.
By the end of 2020, Seoul will test smart bus terminals in 10 different areas. If there are positive reactions, it will expand to all Seoul area in 2021.
Many Korean netizens praised the Seoul government for such innovative action. Some made jokes that the place is even more pleasant than the franchise cafes.
