Military service is an obligation for every Korean male and this goes for male idols as well. You can enlist from the age of 18 and can delay your enlistment if the reason meets the military criteria. However, exemptions are only granted to those with a disability, illness, and more.
Women are not required to enlist but can join the military if they wish to. Almost every month, Korean idols are joining the military to serve their country. In May, 5 idols will enlist to the military. Let's go and find who they are.
BTOB Yook Sung-Jae

BTOB's Yook Sung-Jae has officially announced his military service through Instagram on the night of May 3rd. He is scheduled to enter the military on May 11. From his Instagram post, Sung-Jae left a video for his fans telling them not to worry too much about his military service. He is confident that he will do well and will return safely to his fans. After doing basic training, he will join the military band.
BTOB Im Hyun-sik

BTOB's Im Hyun-Sik will also be going to his military service on the same day as Yook Sung-Jae. He wrote a short thank you message to his fans, and he will miss the time he spent with the members and MELODY (BTOB's fan club name).
The time and location for these two were not revealed because the authorities did not want a huge crowd attending. MELODY were sad to send two members away at the same time but have sent supporting messages to each member.
Pentagon Jo Jin-ho

Pentagon's Jo Jin-Ho is the first member of Pentagon to serve the country. On May 8th, Cube Entertainment confirmed that Jin-Ho will enlist on the same day as the other two BTOB members. "Jinho will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier on May 11th. Due to Jin-Ho's personal wish to enlist quietly, we will not be announcing the time and location of his enlistment," said Cube Entertainment.
His fans were worried because Pentagon boys are currently competing on Mnet's Road to Kingdom, but the agency has announced that the Pentagon will not withdraw from the competition. The seven remaining members will continue competition in the program.
EXO Suho

EXO's Suho wrote a handwritten letter to his fans saying "Hello, our EXO-L. This is Suho. I am writing this letter today because there is something that I need to tell you all. On May 14th, I will be enlisting in the military to carry out my duties. I will miss our EXO-L during that time. I hope our EXO-L, who thinks of me and loves me every day, will always be healthy. I sincerely thank you, and I love you. We are one, EXO. Let's love."
This was uploaded via Lysn in the afternoon of May 4th. The location and time were not reported as the authorities wanted a quiet event. Suho is the 3rd EXO member to enlist to the military after Xiumin and D.O.
Block B U-Kwon

Block B's label agency KQ Entertainment have announced that U-Kwon will enlist in the military on May 18th. After finishing his basic training, he will fulfill his service as an active-duty soldier. U-Kwon is the 4th member of Block B to enlist in the military, following Jaehyo, Taeil, and B-Bomb.
That wraps it for our list of 5 idols who will be enlisting to the military this May. Fans will wait patiently until they get discharged and hope they return safely back to them. How do you feel about this?
