It is already starting to get hot in Korea, and most locals go to Sulbing to get their bowl full of patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red bean) and cool off as it is one of the biggest Korean patbingsu franchises. However, after visiting this patbingsu place that I am about to share with you, you won't be able to go back to regular patbingsu. This place is called Yeonnam Salon, located in Hongdae; a hidden gem for patbingsu lovers in Korea. Note that you might have to queue up to get in.

The store is quite small. You can feel the cozy vibe with lots of small figurines and decorations. A small bookshelf is installed with all sorts of books, which can be rented without a fee or due date. They created a mini library for locals, and people have kindly donated several books to this mini library.
There are plenty of menus to choose from, and their patbingsu varies as seasons change. They use fresh milk ice flakes and ingredients to make their pantbingsu different compared to other shops.
I've ordered matcha patbingsu and tteok-gui (baked rice cake).
Matcha Patbingsu ￦9,000
This matcha patbingsu is probably the best in Korea! Every bite you take, the matcha flavour rushes into your taste buds, and succulent sweet red bean makes them even more delicious. If you are a matchaholic, this place is a must go.
Tteok-gui (Baked rice cake) ￦8,500
There are two sauces that you can dip your tteo-gui in; honey and sesame oil with salt. The outside of tteok-gui is crispy, and the inside is chewy like a marshmallow. One distinct way of eating tteok-gui is to wrap it with dried seaweed. It's an odd combination, right? But it works!
Finally, I would like to mention that if there is a line up while you are inside the cafe, there is an hour limit for staying. But if no customers are waiting outside, you can stay for as long as you want.
