There are around 200,000 Muslims staying in Korea, but Muslim culture is still unfamiliar to locals. There is only one mosque in Seoul (Seoul Central Mosque), prayer rooms are rarely found, and most of all it is almost impossible to find legitimate halal food around.
For Muslim friends who are planning a visit to Korea, we have gathered every information about local Muslim culture and halal foods. Let's check them out.
Halal Food
Best way to keep haram food away is to buy the ingredients, and serve yourself a halal meal. Search "halal" on Gmarket and you can find ingredients from Halal certified companies like Mehranfoods and Yes!Halal. There could be fake halal foods so choose from brand names that you can trust.
You can get reasonably priced halal ingredients delivered to you!
However, you can't always take your own food when you are traveling. Also, you would want to try new local foods. Pork and its products are really prominent in Korea. Below are the four types of food which are Muslim friendly. Learn what each of them mean and try to pick places that suits your need.

If you want real halal food try to visit 'Halal Certified', and at least 'Self Certified' restaurants. If you can't find those restaurants near you, you will find least haram foods at 'Muslim Friendly' and 'Pork-free' restaurants which are easier to find.

Chicken and seafood restaurants are generally pork-free. However there is no guarantee they will use ingredients that are prepared the halal way. Try to visit Halal Certified Restaurants, or Muslim friendly restaurants at least. If you are not sure whether the restaurant you are about to visit is halal or not, leave a comment and we will look it up for you!
Mosques in Korea

Muslims are still rare to find in Korea, and there are small numbers of mosques and prayer rooms in Korea. Seoul Central Masjid is located in the center of Seoul, and there are branches of it located in major cities of thedistrict. For salat or jumu'ah check this list out to find a mosque nearest to you.
