Cochon Tonkatsu | Sinchon
What kind of meal can you get for ₩3000?
Hi everyone. We're Creatrip, your personal Korean travel guide.
What can you buy for ₩3,000 in Korea? You could probably get a bowl of fried rice at a roadside stall or a cup of coffee.
But hidden in the alley of Sinchon Lane, Seoul, there is a shop called Cochon Tonkatsu. You can enjoy a tonkatsu meal just at ₩3,000. Because the price for a meal in Seoul is so expensive Cochon Tonkatsu is like giving their food away for free. Let’s go and see what it tastes like!

Cochon Tonkatsu | Review
Cochon Tonkatsu has long queues. I waited about 10 minutes before I was seated. Also, there aren't that many seats, so you might have to sit with someone else. The service wasn't super either but I didn't mind for the price I was paying. There were so many people in the restaurant so I couldn’t take a detailed photo of the shop.
There is only one item on the menu, the tonkatsu meal (₩3,000). It comes with rice, miso soup, side dishes, and salad. If you want more, you can pay ₩1,000 for an extra. The drinks are ₩1,000 and beer ₩2,000. One thing to remember is that they only accept cash, so make sure you bring some!
Tonkatsu is brought to you by the waiter. Although the amount of soup and rice was relatively small, for the price of ₩3,000, it was very generous. Cochon Tonkatsu is not the average tonkatsu we are used to. Their bread crumb coating is relatively thin, and the pork is a bit tough to chew. Sesame seeds are given so that you can mix it with the sauce on the table. As for the taste, I personally think that the meal is served warm, not hot. So I wouldn't go there and expect a freshly fried piece of tonkatsu.
Although the waiters' attitude was not very welcoming, I did finish and enjoy my tonkatsu and miso soup. Overall, for those who want a decent meal for a cheap price, Cochon Tonkatsu is the place for you. If you go past Sinchon and see this place with no queue, you should definitely give it a try! After all, it’s only ₩3,000.
