Gentle Monster Bukchon flagship store I Reviews
As you step inside, other than the rows and rows of glasses, you may be quick to notice a big machine sitting in the middle of the room. It is an installation art inspired by the power source of the bathhouse. It uses kinetic energy generated by the water movement of the first floor to power light bulbs on the second floor. How cool!
The walls that the glasses sit on have been preserved from the 'Jungangtang', which was a public bathhouse in the early days of 1969. The past and the present seems to coexist in this store, a concept also reflected in the vintage looks of some of the glasses.
Gentle Monster clearly stresses creativity and a futuristic look in its design. No wonder it is a trend setting brand in Korea and many daring fashion fanatics follow this brand. I wanted to get my hands on my very own pair of Gentle Monster glasses!
The wall of the stairs to the second floor are particularly notable in its preservation of the old bathhouse. The rusty bricks together with the posh interior creates a modern yet nostalgic ambience. The concept is brilliant and it really shows how much Koreans emphasize the importance of design.
As you arrive on the second floor, these light bulbs may catch your eyes. As I mentioned earlier, it is powered by the water powered kinetic machine on the first floor. A very original installation art.
The selection of glasses are truly endless! There are so many color codes, lens shapes and looks that you can choose from. Every time you try on a unique pair of glasses, you see the world with a subtly different vibe and energy. This place is heaven for any eye wear lover, or simply anyone who loves creative design!
As you get to the third floor, you may notice that it is very clean and refined. The bushes in the middle and the fragrance gives off a calming and pleasant mood.
Here you can assume more personalities with the diverse choice of glasses. Apart from that, there is even an outdoor terrace where you can take in the beautiful view of the Bukchon Hanok traditional Korean Village.
Contrary to what you might expect to find in a traditional Korean village, the Bukchon Hanok village is filled with traces of the artists and creatives that have inhabited the area. One of those is the Gentle Monster flagship store. If you are a fan of eye wear or simply like to appreciate art, don't miss out on this masterpiece!
