Our Visit

Amidst the chaos that is Hongdae, there are hidden gems where you can find the best fits at affordable prices. However, as a tourist, you may not know where to look. We're here to let you in on a local favorite where you can find trendy, affordable clothing, in the middle of Hongdae! If you're into K-fashion or Korean streetwear, you may have heard about M Playground.

M Playground is a clothing store with several branches all over Korea. They are mostly famous for having trendy clothing that attract young Koreans because of its incredibly affordable price. The signature blue exterior is well known throughout the country and is a signature part of the brand's image. 

We're specifically going to be taking a virtual tour around M Playground Hongdae 2nd Branch today. The store has a whopping number of 3,000 items in store! At the entrance, you will see basic clothing at incredible prices that will most likely lure you inside. For example, these basic T-shirts were only 12,900 KRW for one and 19,900 KRW for two! What a steal! Also, for the month of May, you can get one of these for only 1,900 KRW! What an insane bargain! 

On the first floor, you will find a mixture of men's and women's fashion. They have everything from casual wear, basic t-shirts, graphic t-shirts, knitwear, and more! Here on the first floor, you will find more men's clothing than women's clothing, but fret not! The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor is all women's wear.

There is also a basement floor, where you can find more men's wear. The main counter is here as well.

This looks like a great place to stock up on graphic T's, which you could religiously wear during the hot summer months. 

We were excited to see more of the women's wear, so we headed upstairs to the 2nd floor. 

We were shocked at the variety of styles at M Playground. From casual wear to jackets that will finesse your chic office look, they had it all! 

There are plenty of changing rooms on each floor, so won't have to wait. There are a few rules when trying on clothes: you have to take off your shoes before entering the fitting room, only one person can go into a fitting room at once, you can only try on up to 3 items at a time, you have to wear a face cover when trying on tops, and lastly, you cannot try on any white items or items that are prone to stretching. 

The 3rd floor, compared to the 2nd floor, had more trendier looks. There were Y2K inspired looks and typical floral blouses that you see on every other Korean woman. If you're aiming for a cool girl aesthetic, this place is for you.

There is also a corner with accessories like handbags, which are decently priced. Next to the handbags, there is another check out counter.

On the 4th floor, you'll be able to find a variety of casual wear like wind breakers, track pants, comfy t-shirts and more! 

There are tons of unique options available as well like these colorful jeans that are frequently seen on the streets of Hongdae! Pair them with a bold belt and you've completed the Hongdae Art School Student-look perfectly! 

Back on the 1st floor, if you head towards the back of the store, there is a section dedicated to plus-sized clothes. Most of these items are unisex and can be worn as couple-looks as well!

How to get to M Playground Hongdae 2nd branch from Hongik Univ. Station:

The closest exit is Exit 9. 

Walk out of Exit 9 and go straight ahead.

Keep going straight until you come across a crosswalk. 

Cross the road and turn left.

Keep walking straight until you reach the alley between Tony Moly and the Red Button building, which is the main entrance to Hongdae Shopping Street. 

Turn right into Hongdae Shopping Street. 

Go straight ahead until you see the blue M Playground building in the photo below.
