2020 Korean Convenience Store Must-Buys
Your Stomach Always has Space for More! What should you buy at GS25, CU, E mart 24 or 7 Eleven?
There are a lot of things to see when visiting a convenience store in South Korea. Even if you are shopping somewhere there is always bound to be a convenience store nearby with different products at different stores.
Which is why today I would like to introduce some products that have to be bought in each of the 3 biggest convenience store chains in Korea which are CU, GS25, and 7 Eleven! Check this list out and buy them the next time you visit South Korea!!
[GS25 / CU] Orion Chocopie House (Original and red velvet)
There are two other flavors available when you purchase them online. (Original, red velvet, salted caramel, and cacao). Perfect for people who are fans of Chocopie, and would like to try a luxury version. Worth a try! There are two other flavors available when you purchase them online. [CU] Macaron
[Emart 24] Sweet Potato Mochi
₩2,000
Their unique appearance and the filling inside is worth a try. The texture is chewy and soft with sweet potato/yam flavor the inside. This is an exclusive snack that is only available in Korea, so try while you are here.
[GS 25] Pengsoo Half and Half Gimbab
₩2,200
One flavor of gimbab is too lame for you? GS 25 has Pengsoo half and half gimbab that has tuna mayo and spicy bibimbap flavor in one roll. It will meet your expectations, so no worries at all.
[GS 25] Strawberry Tart
₩ 3,000
Very visually attractive, just like something that you would get from a cafe at Hapjeong. The crust may be a bit soggy, but for the price, the overall quality is excellent. It would go very well with coffee.
[CU] Smoked Chicken Thigh
₩ 3,500
After working out, treat yourself with smoked chicken thigh. Lower calories compared to fried chicken or other options, so would be better options for those who are concerned about diet plans.
[GS 25, CU, 7/11] Porridge
Price varies
Easy to eat when you don’t feel like eating but still need to feed yourself. This is a perfect food for when you are sick or not feeling well. There are plenty of brands that you can pick as well as the flavour. The option includes veggies, beef, mushroom veggies and more!
[CU] Dumpling with ultrathin dough skin and fillings
₩3,000
Ultrathin dough skin with full of fillings inside. This is more like the name itself is the description! There are two options of kimchi and pork and I would suggest pork over kimchi.
[GS 25, CU, 7/11] Viyott
₩1,000 - ₩1,400
Viyott is yogurt with toppings. What makes Viyott special is that toppings are separated so that you can enjoy both yogurt and toppings fresh with a crunchy texture. After removing the lid, just snap the topping piece and it's ready to eat! There are a few options that you can choose from choco-ring, granolas, crunchy balls, and more, but choco-ring is the most popular one.
[GS 25] Jaws Convenience Store Tteok-bokki
₩2,900
Enjoy your favorite tteok-bokki at home with cheap price! It tastes the same as what you can get from the Jaws tteok-bokki store. Also, there are some sundae (순대) inside as aside. Try when you crave some tasty tteok-bokki!
Although GS25 and CU may be popular, there are still a lot of good products sold at 7 Eleven and E Mart 24. There are lots of unique products that are only exclusive at the store. Each convenience stores have their own specialty, and it's exciting to find out which ones your favourite and least favourite. In addition to these products, there are also many common products that can be bought in any of the three convenience store brands. Make sure you give each store a try when you come to Korea.
