Onion Anguk Review
Seoul's most famous Hanok cafe「Onion Anguk」! You will have to wait in lines to get in!
Hi everyone! We are your personal Korean travel guide Creatrip.
Hanok-style cafes are famous in Korea. "Onion" is the most famous hanok-style cafe in Seongsudong and leads all Hanok cafes in Seoul. The Anguk branch opened after it became a success in Seongsu-dong. It was quite a buzz after its expansion. Onion doesn't have the interior design of ordinary cafes but has Korean traditional style housing. It was a hot place on SNS after it opened, and you had to stand in lines to enter. I have visited this hot cafe and left an honest review! Shall we take a look?

Onion Anguk Branch I Review
Even after all this time Onion Anguk branch was still filled with people. I visited in the after noon on weekdays and still I had to wait almost half an hour to get in. Do remember to avoid peak hours!
Hanok style Onion was spectacular from its entrance. Hanok style store was really beautiful with clear sky behind it. It felt like it was definitely worth it.
You can divide the cafe into two areas. One is a floor type where you have to take your shoes off to enter, and the other area is the table area where you can seat on a chair. In addition, there are areas where there's no air-conditioning, so pay attention if you cannot take the heat.
You can see the people standing in line waiting for their turn. Since everyone is standing in line you'll have to take a seat and be in line at once. Visit with your friend for one person to take a seat and one to order, or you might have no seat after you have ordered your drink.
In addition to the beautiful interior design, Onion has delicious pastries. Every branch has its own bakery and the whole cafe is filled with delicious smell, and if they run out of bread, it is instantly filled up with freshly baked bread.
There are many types of bread here. Whether you like salty, sweet, soft, chewy or any style they have it all. One of the most famous menu is this Pandoro. If you are visiting Onion next time don't miss these Pandoros and try them out.
Whie Pandoro's have classic sugar flavor, and the yellow has soybean powder which makes it much more flavor rich.
I had both of them and yellow Pandoro tasted more dry and mellow, while white one was more moist and delicate. I recommend that you try both of them.
Don't worry all menus will be too sweet, because of its appearance. I tried it with Vanilla Latte and the bitter taste of coffee mitigated the sweetness of desserts. It wasn't too sweet or too greasy. I think it will rank high among cafes in Seoul just for its taste.
Pandoro is ₩5,000, and Vanilla Latte is ₩5,500, which is reasonable taking its high quality into account.
In addition to bread, Onion has variety of coffee flavors in store. In additiona to general Italian coffee, there are also hand-made coffee on site. If you tell the clerk your name they will call out your name when it's ready to serve.
Onion also sells coffee related goods. I have visited the Seongsu branch as well and there are more raw beans to choose from in Seongsu branch. The quality of the bean is really good, and the price is just reasonable. If you are choosing just one, you will have too choose from sour or cocoa coffee, according to your preference.
In addition there are many coffee related products on site. Such as coffee kettle, filters, mug cups, badges and even paper tapes.
If you are interested in goods to purchase you can also buy here. The price isn't too expensive compared to other cafes. Design is simple and beautiful.
