Have you ever heard of Korean Beef, or 'Hanwoo'? In addition to grilled pork belly (samgyeopsal), Hanwoo is a MUST-EAT foods for tourists traveling in Korea. Majang-dong is where all the Korean locals in Seoul visit to eat the highest level quality of Korean beef. This is because Majang Livestock Market is one of the largest market for fresh beef produce.

We visited the restaurant 'Majanggol' and tried 1++ grade Korean Beef. It was a taste that we couldn't forget, so we wanted to make sure to share our experience with Creatrip members! Creatrip currently has a partnership with Majanggol

Our Visit

The beef served in Majanggol is the highest-quality 1++ Grade Korean Hanwoo. I was very impressed by my visit here.

Majanggol has received certificates for Korean livestock products in recent years. As you can see, the grade marked above is Hanwoo (한우) 1++. Also, the store has many customers, and many of them were Korean locals. Many Koreans decide to eat Hanwoo when they have a special event to commemorate.

Hanwoo is very important to Koreans. In Korea, eating Korean beef means that there are things to celebrate, such as getting accepted to college, getting a promotion in work, or winning in a competition, etc. Hanwoo is equated with happiness and celebration for Koreans as it is really high-quality and a way to really treat yourself!

The Korean beef is neatly placed inside a low-temperature refrigerator, assuring that the meat is kept very fresh. Also, in Majanggol, you can choose the part of the beef you would like to have, and see the actual price tag for yourself so price transparency and freshness of the meat are both guaranteed.

Every store in Majangdong Hanwoo Market, receives table fee per person. This table fee must be paid separately from the meat price. It is 6,000 KRW for adults and 4,000 KRW for children.

We picked out two 1++ Korean beef steaks that were evenly distributed. Because it was our first time trying Hanwoo, we were really looking forward to it!

The highly marbled Hanwoo beef is really juicy, so when it's on the grill, you can see the oil and juices dripping down from inside of the meat. The smell was incredible. After the meat was cooked enough, we cut it and inside, a beautiful pink lining was revealed.

However, we were a little busy drinking, so we accidentally overcooked the meat and burnt it a little...oops! We still had to eat it though, considering how precious this meat is.

The picture above accurately represents my feelings about this Hanwoo. I was really impressed!!! I can't put the expression into words as I have never eaten Korean beef before. Even though it was a little burnt, it was still so yummy. All I can say is that it was absolutely delicious!

The additional Miso Stew was also very good and not too salty, with the perfect amount of the fermented soy aroma.

Whichever way it's cooked, Majanggs Korean beef was incredible. The meat itself is super fresh and when I took a bite of it, I was amazed at how tender and soft it was. I was really glad that I could try Hanwoo.

Because it was so delicious, I went to get a second dish of Korean beef. This time I chose a Korean beef platter with various cuts. The small pieces looked like it contained more muscle and less fatty parts.

After I tasted each part, I was convinced that Majanggol's Korean beef is the best. Every cut of meat was amazing, and the taste is unforgettable. No wonder my friends that had Hanwoo before said, "After you try Korean beef, you will never want to eat pork belly."

The meat was so tender and soft that it felt like a marshmallow melting inside my mouth. The taste of Korean beef cannot be compared to ordinary beef. Eating Hanwoo was truly a life-changing experience!

We ordered "Raw Beef Bibimbap" to eat together. We recommend that you order it to have a more satisfying meal; it was delicious!

If you are hesitant to eat Korean beef, or doubtful about its taste, don't be! Majanggol is a trustworthy restaurant where you can eat the best 1++ grade Korean beef, and it's loved by many! We understand that you might be hesitant, as we also were since it seemed a bit expensive. However, after eating it, we felt that it was really worth the price!

If you have never tried Korean beef, you should try your first Hanwoo at “Majanggol (마장골)”, which is recommended for the high quality meat. I will definitely be coming back!

These are the lovely Majanggol's owners; they're father and son! They will help out foreigners by coming to the table and helping you cook the meat.
