In recent years, Daegu has become a very hot travel destination, but how much do you really know about Daegu? Today I will recommend 9 major tourist attractions that you absolutely have to visit. Not it down, and use it to plan your Daegu trip!

Daegu attraction：1. Dalseong park（달성공원）

Perhaps the most iconic park of Daegu is the Dalseong Park. It has to oldest history and is loved by its citizens. Located near Seomun market, it has convenient transportation and is also frequented by Daegu families and lovers who come for a stroll.

The expansive greenery and nicely laid trails are the perfect environment to take a walk and enjoy the fresh breeze.

Daegu attraction：Dalseong park was a part of the tribal state during Korea's three kingdom era and also a camp for the Japanese soldiers during the Jiawu Sino-Japanese war. It was not until 1905 that all traces of war and killing was erased from this park and officially renovated into what we know as the Dalseong park. Other than its relaxing atmosphere, the Dalseong park is also home to Daegu's history & culture museum, zoo, etc. They all have free entrance, but because they are public facilities, if you arrive too late, they may be closed.

How to get there

• Take Daegu metro line 3 and get off at Dalseong park station（달성공원역）Come out from exit number 3 and walk for about 10 minutes. 

Daegu attraction：2. Daegu arboretum（대구수목원）

Location：대구 달서구 화암로 342

The next attraction I want to recommend is an arboretum that was formerly a refuse landfill full of dirt and grime.

Before 1990, this landfill accumulated 4 million tons of waste generated by Daegu citizens. In order to solve this environmental issue, the Daegu city government cooperated with the Korean central government in the late 1990s to bury the garbage on site with up to 7 meters of new soil. Trees were subsequently planted on the new soil to restore ecological integrity.

An attraction comprised of 21 themed planting areas：with 60,000 trees, this arboretum is perhaps the largest in Daegu. It is similar to the Seoul forest in that it offers education, outdoor education, academic research and recreational facilities.

Other than the trees, many flowers and plants are also planted here, and they form their own ecological landscape.

How to get there

• Take Daegu metro line 1 to Daegok station 대곡역. Come out from either exit 2 or 3 and walk for around 20 minutes to arrive at Daegu arboretum.

Dagu attraction：3. Apsan park（앞산공원）

Location：대구 남구 앞산순환로 574-116

Do you want to see the beautiful city of Daegu from above? Come to Daegu's famous attraction, the Apsan park! It is one of the most popular Daegu tourist attractions.

Although Apsan is only 660 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by the Sansong and Taedok mountains, forming a beautiful valley. Apsan has begun to be renovated into a park since 1970. With government support, it underwent two-time renovation within a ten year plan. Now it stands as Daegu's biggest fully renovated ecological park.

An attraction that covers an area of 5 million square meters：Apsan park is Daegu's largest ecological park. If you don't want to climb the mountain by foot, you can always use a cable car to ascend the mountain while taking in Daegu's beautiful scenery.

We recommend you to come during the day time when the skies are clear to fully appreciate the beautiful view of Daegu. But also because the Apsan observation deck is not open until too late.

Many lovers visit the Apsan mountain hiking trails as a date course. There are locks you and your lover can put on the handle bars of this trail, symbolizing loyalty and firmness of the relationship.

How to get there

• Take Daegu metro line 1 to Hyeonchung-ro station（현충로역）Come out from exit number 3 and walk about 30 minutes
• Take Daegu metro line 1 to Hyeonchung-ro station（현충로역）Come out from exit number 3, take the green bus：남구1-1 at the bus stop in front of the exit. Get off at Apsan park management office station（앞산공원사무관리사무소앞）

Daegu attraction：4.Susung pond（수성유원지）

The Susung pond is an attractive destination at night.

The Susung pond is ranked 5th among Daegu's 12 hottest destinations. In the daytime, the lake is a calm and soothing place one might relax and take a stroll around. At night, it reflects the surrounding buildings and turns into a magnificent beauty. From May through October, there is a water fountain show. The glittering lake creates ripples that seem to dance to the music.

The Susung pond seems nothing much of an ordinary, relaxing park in the day time. It is a pity I only have pictures to share from the day time. But I have heard from friends that strolling through the park at night and looking at the skyscrapers reflected in the pond is an absolute scenery!

Daegu attraction：Susung pond was built in 1925 under the Japanese colonization. It has the capacity of 700,000 metric tons.

Initially, the Susung pond was used for agriculture and only later transformed for recreational use. In addition, there are lots of play areas such as an amusement park. You can also enjoy a swan boat ride with friends, families and lovers in the pond.

• Take Daegu metro line 1 to Susung pond station（수성못역）Come out from exit 1 and walk around 10 minutes to get to Susung pond

Daegu attraction：5. Ayang-gyo rail road（아양교철길）

Location：대구 동구 지저동 930

The Ayang bridge connects the Dongdaegu station with to the Daegu international market, providing convenient transportation for many drivers and vehicles. Right by this bridge is a thin, old iron bridge：the Ayang rail road bridge. Originally a railway, it was abandoned and subsequently transformed into a scenic pedestrian bridge.

Perhaps the Ayang rail road bridge is best known for the shooting spot of the drama《My Venus》starring actor So Ji Sub. On this bridge, you can see many people marveling at the beautiful river view.

Parts of the bridge have half transparent glasses that will light up at night, creating a beautiful night view.

• Take Daegu metro line 1 Ayang bridge station（아양교역）Come out from exit 4 and walk around 5 minutes to get to the Ayang rail road bridge entrance

Daegu attraction：6. Kimguangseok Redrawing Road（김광석 다시그리기 길）

Location：대구 중구 동덕로14길

Kimguangseok is a legendary singer from Daegu. Although his singing style may seem out-of-date compared to modern Kpop, the emotions carried in his songs still resonate with many people. He was arguably the most famous singer in Korea in the 90s.

To Kimguangseok, music was his life and his everything. A lot of his works are widely popular among Koreans today and are also used in retro-movies like《응답하라1988》

Kimguangseok is arguably the most important figure in Korea's music industry. He committed suicide at a young age, leaving behind many sad fans

Kimguangseok lived around Daegu's Bangcheon traditional market. After his passing, many fans would here to remember the legendary singer. Thus, Daegu city's government and more than a dozen artists came together to transform this street into an art street with many murals and artworks to remember Kimguangseok.

There are countless murals in Korea, but this is the first that was made in honor of a singer. Surrounded by the murals, it's as if you can hear the guitar playing sad melodies, leaving a deep impression on many people who come to visit.

Daegu attraction：7. Nampyungmoon Bonliseguji（남평문씨본리세거지）

Location：대구 달성군 화원읍 인흥3길 16

Many of you may be unfamiliar with this attraction. But let's see if you know this K-drama.

Yup, it is the shooting spot for Korean drama classic《보보경심:려》4th prince（played by Lee Joon Ki）Haesoo（played by IU）

Originally a Buddhist temple, the Nampyungmoon family subsequently moved in, renovated the place and lived here. Hundreds of years later, the Nampyungmpoon bonliseguji area became one of Daegu's cultural relics, with many old, traditional buildings.

The traditional streets, walls and other constructions that have been preserved makes you feel like you are in a Korean city of the past. For many people visiting Korea, other than the delicious food and fun activities, appreciating traditional Korean buildings is a must.

• Take Daegu metro line 1 to Seolhwa Myeonggok station（설화명곡역）Take the green bus 달성2 in front of exit 4 and get off at 본리1리

Daegu attractions：8. The Arc（디아크）

Location：대구 달성군 다사읍 죽곡리 805

Opened in 2012, The Arc gets its name from「Architecture of River Culture」&「Artistry of River Culture」referring to an architecture and artwork that encompasses elements of heaven, earth, river, geometry and culture.

The Arc is suitable for visit in the day time as well as at night. The main attraction in the arc, the boat shaped building will light up at night, leaving many passerby awestruck.

This attraction is nothing short of a large park filled with amazing installation art. You can go visit the insides of the various architectures before 18:00. Many people who visit come to enjoy the scenic night view and the sunset.

From the map, you can clearly see that the arc is built on a protruding piece of land by the river. When the sunsets, the river lights up in red and the installations come to life. Be quick to take out your phones to capture arguably the most beautiful sunset view of Daegu.

In the night, The Arc is still filled with visitors and lovers enjoying a quiet and scenic stroll around the park. Come here in the morning with some friends to experience the slow paced Daegu life!

• Daegu metro line 2 Daesil station（대실역）take the green bus：성서2 in front of exit 2 and get off at 강정보（디아크문화관）Then, walk to the Arc.

Daegu attraction：9. E WORLD 83 TOWER（이월드 83타워）

In Korea, every city has its own iconic tower. For instance, in Seoul there is the N Seoul tower, in Busan there is the Busan tower. In Daegu, there is the 83Tower, the most iconic attraction of Daegu.

I recommend this place for those wishing to see Daegu's amazing night view.

When the skies are clear, you can come in the day time to take in the beautiful sky view of Daegu. I have to say, Daegu's sky is brighter than Seoul's sky. Daegu's laid back and slow paced lifestyle is perfect for people coming to travel. If I have the chance, I would want to try living a leisurely life in Daegu!

• Daegu metro line 2 Duryu station（두류역）come out from exit 15 and walk about 8 minutes to arrive at E World entrance. You can also take a free shuttle bus.
